Sylvia Hennessie is an accomplished early childhood educator with over a decade of experience in school-based roles, including mentor teacher and instructional coach. In 2019, she was honored as Teacher of the Year by the Howard County Public School System and was nominated for Washington Post’s Teacher of the Year. In addition to her work in schools, Sylvia also served as a Children’s Instructor & Research Specialist with Howard County
Library System, where she piloted the state-funded Mother Goose on the Loose: Hatchlings program. Currently serving as a Curriculum Specialist with the University of Maryland’s Center for Early Childhood Education and Intervention, she supports preschool classrooms in implementing standards-driven, project-based early learning curricula. education, Sylvia strives to build partnerships with local organizations to promote early literacy, providing valuable tools and support for educators and families.
