Marcia A. Mardis is a Professor of Information Science, Director of the FSU Information Institute, and the Associate Dean for Research at Florida State University's College of Communication & Information. Principal investigator of three current federally-funded community resiliency projects, Dr. Mardis’ research interests center on school and public librarians’ roles in disaster response, especially in rural areas. After two decades as an information professional, she has also led broadband and workforce-building projects focused on rural Florida and Michigan. Dr. Mardis is the lead author and editor of AASL’s National School Library Standards (2018), co-author of the just-released companion Shared Foundations: Engage (2023); and has enthusiastically served ALA for over two decades.
