Glen J. Benedict is the Access Services Librarian at the University of the District of Columbia, a historically Black land-grant university and the only public university in Washington, DC. He has been working in libraries for nine years. An avid advocate for freedom of speech and intellectual freedom, he has served on the American Library Association’s Committees for Legislation and Intellectual Freedom, and has presented on book bans and challenges at diverse gatherings including ALA’s LibLearnX and Annual Conference, the Washington Research Library Consortium’s Annual Meeting, Library 2.0's Mini Conference on Banned Books and Censorship, and Flame Con. In his free time, Glen can be found creating imaginary worlds and exploring our real one.
