Nichelle M. Hayes, MPA, MLS is currently President of the Black Caucus of the American Library Association (BCALA). She received her MLS from the Indiana University School of Library and Information Science and her MPA from Valdosta State University. Nichelle is a lifelong learner and lover of poetry. Currently she works as a Public Librarian in a large Urban system. Nichelle serves on a number of community boards, including the Indiana Black Librarians Network (Past President) and the NAACP (Board Member). Nichelle is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Inc. – A Public Service Organization (Lifetime Member). Nichelle has been a member of BCALA & ALA since library school. ALA committees - "2023 ALA Nominating Committee" & "Working Group to Condemn White Supremacy and Fascism as Antithetical to Library Work" 2022-2023. She is a blogger at The Ties That Bind (https://thetiesthatbind.blog/ ) where she discusses genealogy and how to keep families connected.
