Tamela Chambers (she/her) is the Branch Manager of the Beverly Branch of the Chicago Public Library. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Advertising and Master of Science in Library Information Science degrees (with K-12 library media certification), from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Chambers is an active member of the Black Caucus of the American Library Association (BCALA) and the president of the Chicago chapter (CCBCALA). She has over 20 years of experience serving all ages in public and school libraries and has incorporated hip hop culture in her program offerings and lesson plans. Tamela is a hip hop enthusiast who fell in love with the culture in the early 80s and believes in its power to amplify the lived experiences of Black and Brown communities through its various modes of expression.
