Learning Initiatives Librarian, Experiential Learning

Claire Pitcairn is a Learning Initiatives Librarian at University of Rochester. Her background is English Literature, Education Studies, and Spanish Language, and she holds and MLIS from Syracuse University. In her current role, she supports experiential learning programs; plans and develops materials and curricula for research and learning; develops and executes assessment plans; and delivers information literacy instruction through program and course integration. She also has helped to design and run programs through the public library for teaching English language to refugees and immigrants, and still volunteers to run a writing class and 1:1 tutoring there. Her previous work has included topics such as cultural responsiveness, conscious competence, language acquisition for both TESOL and information literacy, and pop culture.
