Jessie Long is the Outreach & Instruction Librarian and Principal Librarian at the Middletown campus of Miami University in Ohio. She received an MLIS from Kent State University and a BA in anthropology from the University of New Mexico. She regularly teaches how to structure arguments and complete effective research in a credit bearing debate course for international students, as well as leading a variety of instruction sessions on topics ranging from course specific research to how to combat misinformation. Jessie has presented talks on online learning courses and tools, gamification and game-based learning, fake news, and using makerspaces to help support community needs at various state, regional, and international conferences. In addition to her presentation work, she has also authored and co-authored two book chapters that deal with gamification of the research process and interactive library orientations, and has also co-edited the book "Makerspaces for Adults: Best practices and great projects" through Rowman & Littlefield.
