MLIS Student and UX Intern
SJSU iSchool UX Lab
Shannon Broden is in her second year of the MLIS program at San Jose State University, with an emphasis in emerging technology, digital content and databases. Previously, she earned a BA in Radio-Television Production and Performance and English-Creative Writing from Eastern Washington University (Cheney, WA), and an MA in Communications from California State University, Fullerton. Her Master’s thesis at California State University, Fullerton, (Fullerton, CA) published under her maiden name of Shannon Elise Muir and entitled “Getting the Animated Message: Effects of Animated Public Service Announcements Designed for Children on Adults,” explored the potential level of influence of animation as a medium for communication. Broden sees virtual reality and emerging technologies as a direct extension of animation evolving into a direct means of accessing digital content, and believes that a strong user experience is key for users to make the most of acquiring information.
