Jesús Trejo is a stand-up comedian from Long Beach, CA, who can be seen in his first one-hour comedy special on Showtime, "Stay At Home Son." He is also an actor on the Netflix series, "Mr. Iglesias" and, most recently, a writer for the second season of "This Fool" on Hulu. Trejo is the executive producer and host of the web series "Tacos con Todo" (COMPLEX/ FirstWeFeast), in which he navigates the LA taco scene with celebrity guests. He appears regularly at international comedy festivals and stand-up venues across the country. Trejo will discuss his book, "Raising Mamá’s Plantitas" available in Fall 2024. Mamá and Papá are still at work when little Jesús gets home after school. With his babysitter on the watch (sort of), he has his usual routine: do homework, daydream, do small chores here and there around the house… but one day, Mamá appoints him honorable Chief Plant Officer, Branch Manager, AND big brother to her precious houseplants! As usual, little Jesús takes his job very seriously: from sharing his best jokes with the Golden Pothos to dancing with the Peace Lily, he’s the best Chief Plant Officer in town—until one plant has an accident and throws little Jesús’ entire job into crisis mode. Trejo's first book, "Papá's Magical Water Jug-Clock," is currently available in English and Spanish. In 2024, he will executive produce and host a PBS network docu-series titled, Roots of Comedy.
Jesús will be in conversation with School Library Journal reviews editor Shelley Diaz.
