In this intensive, interactive design sprint we'll demystify AI by giving you the chance to explore and understand AI as it relates to equitable and ethical library services. We'll delve into the key principles of AI, investigate thorny issues, and discuss the societal impact of AI. We'll explore all of these through a design sprint that gives you time to brainstorm and prototype ways in which libraries can harness AI to serve their communities. We'll foster innovative thinking and encourage library staff to collaborate with their communities to build community- and AI-based services. At the end of the session not only will you have a solid understanding of AI equity and ethics you will have an action plan for building AI connected services that are equitable and ethical.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to describe three ways that libraries can work with communities to design equitable and ethical AI-based services.
Participants will be able to identify three ways in which AI frameworks are and aren't ethical
Participants will be able to list a set of three to five AI talking points to bring to vested partners so to begin building community-based AI services
Participants will design an action plan for implementation immediately following the design sprint
