Our presentation on Building Culturally responsive collections and programming in partnerships with schools will discuss how the Center For Educators & Schools at the New York Public Library has strengthened its relationships with schools, students, educators, and families through the MyLibraryNYC Program, School Support & Outreach and a field trips and exhibition programs based on the Polansky exhibit , including the launch of the Educator Collection a professional development circulating special collection supporting formal, & informal educators, homeschooling families and librarians. The Center For Educators & Schools prides itself on using the resources of the New York Public Library to support our mission and ignite a passion for the joy of learning and curioisity.

Learning Objectives:

Participants will be able to apply direct techniques to build partnerships, presenting to key stakeholders, and becoming community anchors within their local schools.
Participants will be able to select and identify materials supporting all reading abilities, the various reading modalities, and languages.
Design and evaluate professional development programming supporting educators and how can the public library support this mission.
Construct a suite of programming that is engaging, culturally responsive, and accessible.
